Candie Blankman

Candie Blankman was born and raised in Minnesota. She graduated with BS degree in secondary education from Bemidji State University. She worked in the restaurant business and then taught junior and senior high social studies and history. In 1996 she graduated with an MDIV from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, Boston. Her first call was to Palos Park Presbyterian Community Church, in Chicago, Illinois then in March 2003 Candie was called as Pastor to First Presbyterian Church of Downey, California, an urban multicultural congregation.

Since 1985 Candie has also been an instructor and coach for Dynamic Communicator’s Workshop, Inc. She loves to garden and oil paint and is just completing a book about her father’s life as a POW in WWII and how it shaped her personally and professionally. Candie’s husband Drew is an editor for InterVarsity Press and they live in and love Downey. They have three children, Jeff who lives in San Diego with his wife Jackie; Anne, who is a graphic artist for Wolcott Interior Design, Culver City; and daughter, Jamie, an elementary school teacher who lives with her husband Kyle in Los Angeles.

Dr. Brian Anderson

Dr. Brian Anderson

Dr. Brian Anderson serves as the Defense Acquisition University's Colorado Site Director and liaison to the National Security Space Institute (NSSI). He has over 20 years of experience in space operations and acquisition as both an enlisted member and officer in the US Air Force. Dr. Anderson enlisted in the Air Force in 1984 as part of the College Senior Engineering Program. After graduating from Purdue University with a Bachelors of Science in Astronautical Engineering, he attended the Officer Training School and was commissioned in 1985.

Dr. Anderson was selected to attend the Air Command and Staff College in 1998 and the Air Force’s School of Advanced Airpower Studies in 1999. His follow-on assignment was to US Space Command, Peterson AFB, Colorado. There he wrote the DoD Space Control Strategy and oversaw the publication of the DoD’s first space doctrine. He was deployed in the Future Operations Branch for Operations NOBLE EAGLE and ENDURING FREEDOM. He planned Special Access Program activities for Operation IRAQI FREEDOM that supported the liberation of that nation. He went on to be the Air Force’s first Space Operator to command a squadron with a flying mission at the US Air Force Academy in 2003. His squadron was responsible for the education of over 4000 cadets in the application of air and space power.

Dr. Anderson has been published in multiple periodicals and is a guest lecturer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the United Kingdom’s Joint Services Command and Staff College as well as US professional military education institutions.

Dr. Anderson retired as a command space operator and a certified program manager. He is married to the former Patricia Puterbaugh and has three daughters: Laura, Amy, and Bethany.

Michele Cushatt

Pulling from a unique set of life experiences, Michele Cushatt writes articles, stories and devotional meditations for numerous publications including MOPS International, Today’s Christian Woman, Hearts-at-Home, Upper Room Ministries, The Quiet Hour, Devotions, and multiple compilation books including four titles in the Chicken Soup series. Her speaking experience covers the United States and includes the Focus on the Family daily radio program and their Your Family Live! Webcast, multiple Hearts-at-Home conferences, writers conferences, business and church events as well as various other conferences, retreats, radio interviews, and writers groups. Passionate about mentoring fellow writers and speakers, Michele has been the Director of Words For The Journey Christian Writers Guild for three years. Also, she has been on staff with Ken Davis and his Dynamic Communicators Workshops for almost 5 years.

Michele, her husband Troy, and their three teenage boys make their home in Colorado.

Ryan Daffron

Ryan Daffron serves at Coast Hills Community church in Aliso Viejo, Ca. He has been ministering at CHCC for 6 years, and has a Masters of Divinity from the C.P. Haggard school of Theology at Azusa Pacific University. He has been in local church ministry for 16 years, and grew up on the mission fields of Ecuador, Panama, and Costa Rica. He has been married to Mindy for 15 years and has two great kids. More than anything Ryan has a desire to communicate the heart of God to those in need of grace, truth, and freedom. He desires to be a person who can’t stop talking about Jesus and pursuing ways to demonstrate the Kingdom.

Byron Emmert has been involved with SCORRE from the very beginning (of the workshop, not the world). He is a graduate of John Brown University with a degree in Communications and Biblical Studies. During his thirty plus years in ministry, he has worked as a youth pastor, pastor, and with YFC. Byron currently serves with Youth for Christ/USA as Vice-President of Leadership Development. He enjoys teaching and speaking to audiences of all ages and hanging out with Linda and their four grandkids!

Michael Fernihough

Michael is a co-lead pastor and teaching pastor at Alethia Church in Colorado Springs as well as a Christian teacher and communicator. He has a history of more than 15 years in youth ministry, and has been on the SCORRE staff since 2005. He and his wife Mandy were born and raised in Texas, and most recently spent six years in Michigan. They have four kids => Drew is the oldest and is into Star Wars, Legos, and hip hop dance. Noah is number two, and he's the crazy one of the bunch. Isaac is quickly catching up to his two older brothers, and Lindley is the princess. Michael is a teacher, worship leader, but really just loves being a husband and dad. They love Texas A&M, good food, good football, good friends, being active, and the view outside their window in Colorado. You can usually find Michael at Starbucks hanging out with other people.

Keith Ferrin

Keith Ferrin is an author, speaker, and storyteller. He founded That You May Know Ministries and travels internationally, speaking at conferences, churches, retreats, universities and wherever people will let him. He also started True Success Coaching and coaches individuals and teams in the area of communication and public speaking.

Bobby Fisher

Bobby Fisher has been married to his lovely wife Jill for 33 years; he is father of three grown children and grandfather to four. Bobby is Executive Pastor at Big Valley Grace Community Church in Modesto, California, where he oversees a staff of more than 50 pastors, directors and administrative staff. He is passionate about the local church and its role as the expression of Christ to the surrounding community.

Saved at the age of 35, Bobby’s business background has given him the necessary skills and experience to oversee the programming and staff of a large church. He is committed to the mission of Dynamic Communicators Workshop to bring clarity and focus to all who proclaim the word of Christ. For Bobby, these principles apply wherever there is a message to share.

Bobby is an avid water skier, golfer and loves a long run to begin his day.

Curtis Fletcher

Curtis Fletcher has been an integral part of the SCORRE family for close to 20 years. During that time he has applied the principles of SCORRE while working in a variety of companies in a variety of roles ranging from youth pastor to internet programming analyst, from marketing director to CTO, and from VP of strategy to personal coach. Curtis is currently a Senior Manager with Hitachi Consulting in their Oracle practice.

In his spare time, all three minutes of it, Curtis enjoys photography, computer graphic art, and occasional fits of Xbox and he subscribes to the notion that Disneyland IS the happiest place on earth.

Stacey Foster

Stacey Foster is more than a dynamic speaker; he is an inspired communicator with the rare ability to make complex Biblical truths come to life with clarity for anyone at any occasion. His messages are both timely and relevant, transcend age, race and culture to connect with audiences of various backgrounds and circumstances. Whether they are believers or non-believers, he challenges, inspires, and motivates them to reach their full potential. He has spoken at several Promise Keepers events, Youth for Christ's DC/LA gatherings, as well as for youth in public schools and overseas ministries.

Stacey Foster pastors a church in Detroit with his wife Dottie Foster appropriately called Life Changers International Ministries. There, his ministry is "Changing hearts, healing hurts, imparting truths, and impacting a generation." Similarly, Stacey presides as president over S.O.A.R (Sold Out And Real) Ministries. SOAR is a ministry designed to equip, train, and empower this generation. This same spirit is humbly communicated in his home; he and Pastor Dottie have two adult children - Russell and Lori.

Matt Grimes

First and foremost, Matt is simply a follower of Christ. After his love for God, he is passionately in love with his smoking hot wife Carmen and they have a newborn daughter, Elin Marie, who is the light of their lives. “When my life is over, I want the world to say that I loved no one more than my Savior, and that I was the best husband I could be to my wife, and the best father my kids could ever ask for. What achievements have I truly achieved if I fail my wife and my kids?”

Matt currently serves as the Middle School Pastor at Faith Promise Church in Knoxville TN, where each week he helps over 200 middle schoolers to encounter Christ and learn what it means to walk with Him. Starting in 2005, he has seen the ministry grow from 65 to over 200, developing a leadership base of over 40 adult volunteers who are committed to partnering with parents to lead the next generation in a passionate love affair with their Savior. In 2007, he created remixonline.org, an online ministry devoted to helping individuals and ministries encounter the living word of God. Through blogs, event speaking, and weekly podcast he is committed to engaging people’s lives with God’s word. Matt joined the SCORRE staff in 2008, and is committed to helping speakers, regardless of their audience, to communicate with clarity and precision.

Mark Jevert

Mark serves as the Vice President of Marketing and Development (yes, that’s code for fundraising) for Youth for Christ/USA, based in Denver, CO. He first attended DCW back in 1987 (and is still trying to get it right). A father of three adult girls, Mark has been married 31 years to his bride, Debbie, and they live in Kalamazoo, Michigan. “Not a day goes by where I don’t apply some of the core principles of SCORRE, whether in writing, speaking prep, planning conferences or banquet programs… even in strategic planning. After many years of ministry, this by far is the most practical and impactful training I’ve ever been a part of.”

Jimmy McGuire

Jimmy has been a Senior Pastor for 38 years, serving as the first Pastor in his first church in Brandon, Ms., for 23 years, then for 10 1/2 years in a megachurch in Michigan, and for the last few years in a new church development in Livonia, Michigan. He has been married to Lucy for 41 years, and has three grown sons, one of whom is also on staff in a Presbyterian church. Among his favorite Scriptures are Gal. 5:6b "All that matters is faith that expresses itself in love," and Romans 10:4 "Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to all who believe." He has been on staff for SCORRE since 1992, and considers the unique SCORRE program as critical in his own growth as a Pastor and public speaker.

Mason Peters

Mason has been the pastor of the Pembina Evangelical Free Church in Pembina, ND since October 2000. Together with his wife Vanessa, Mason has developed a small music/theater/music ministry called MVP Ministries. He has three children => Spencer, Kassiy, Madisson.

Soozung Rankin

Soozung Rankin

Soozung Sa Rankin lives and works in Center City, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Currently, Director of Community Development at a local Episcopal church, she is married to Brian, and also lives with two rescue dogs. Soozung has been in ministry for over 30 years in a variety of United Methodist settings and part of the SCORRE scene since 1999. She has an undergraduate degree in music and is currently completing her Masters of Theological Studies at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. For leisure, she volunteers in the community and enjoys running, writing, cooking, and directing "band practice" for her pre-school aged son. Soozung travels to help leaders fulfill their mission as leaders. She has a special interest is personality types and learning styles.

Lewie Schultz

For 20 years, Lewie Schultz pastored churches in the states of Minnesota, Oregon and Washington. He has facilitated city-wide leadership prayer summits in 23 US cities for International Renewal Ministries. Perhaps his greatest accomplishment is raising eight—yes, EIGHT!—children, including two fake (but very much loved!) ones that he adopted from Russia. For the past 6 years Lewie has worked in marketing for Direct Buy and Ecowater International.'

Herb Shaffer

Thirty years experience as a leader, teacher, trainer, mentor, and motivational speaker has convinced Herb that those gifts are not for him, but to be used for others. He currently serves as the founding pastor of New Song Community Church (www.newsongpittsburgh.org) in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA. In addition, he is the director of the Institute for Servant Leadership (www.iservant.org).

Herb grew up in Springfield, Ohio, (go Buckeyes!) completed his undergraduate work at Gulf-Coast Bible College, Houston, Texas in 1981, and received a Masters in Science of Organizational Leadership degree from Geneva College, Beaver Falls, PA in 2001. He is not a "traditional" minister, but considers himself an entrepreneurial pastor, exploring possibilities, getting involved in other activities, constantly thinking outside of the box. In 1990 the Shaffer family moved to Pittsburgh to start a congregation from scratch. He has worked with New Song Community Church through the organizational phases from birth to maturity. Because of his "never wanting to get stale" mindset, Herb has constantly pursued other opportunities.

Since 1988 he has had the privilege of working with Ken Davis in the Dynamic Communicator Workshops, and since 2001 he’s worked with the Institute for Servant Leadership, in 2009 accepting the position of Director. Herb also teaches college courses in the areas of leadership, organizational dynamics, critical thinking, communication, and life development. Herb's love of writing has led to developing curriculum and articles for several publications.

Herb is the father of four children and the husband of but one wife. They are the joy of his life. His wife, Sheila, works with the elderly and is an accomplished piano teacher. His son, Andrew, is married to Sarah, and works for the corporate office of Chick-fil-A in Atlanta, GA. Daughter, Carissa, is married to Mike and a 2007 graduate of Geneva College. Daughter Amber and son Chadd are students at Taylor University, Upland, IN.

Scott Stover

Scott Stover serves in Operations as part of the Chick-fil-A, Inc. corporate staff where he acts as a relationship manager between Chick-fil-A franchisees and the corporate office. Prior to his role in Operations he served in Learning & Development on the Chick-fil-A staff. Other experience includes being a Chick-fil-A franchisee, managing a profit center for a publicly traded retailer, and serving in the United States Army. Scott’s educational background includes a B.A. in English and an MBA in Leadership Development. He has been married to Anna for 17 years and they have four children.

With a client list that runs from from Apple Computer to the Salvation Army and the U.S. Government Management Training Center it is easy to see that McNair is skilled at adapting his presentations to any group. McNair believes that everyone has a creative spirit, though some are more actively creative. He is determined to get everyone on the active list. McNair draws on his professional experience in: theme park design, theatre, graphic design, cartooning and illustration, creative writing, and entertainment design. At Disney Imagineering he created live shows and attractions for Disney theme parks and resorts, world-wide. During more than thirty- five years in professional theatre McNair has been a director, actor, scenic designer, teacher, and playwright. McNair currently lives in Colorado.
